Feeding Opportunities for Infants
Infants are encouraged and nurtured as they are offered formula or breast milk based on the feeding plan that is prepared by the parent. Rice cereal, strained fruits and vegetables are offered to those young children as the infant feeding plan is updated by the parents. This required plan is known to support the healthy growth and development of infants.
Dining Opportunities for Toddlers, Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten Children
Our trained kitchen specialists prepare meals on site. Menus meet the USDA guidelines for children in order to ensure a child’s diet is varied and balanced. Children have the opportunity to be nourished with foods for physical and mental development. Water and 2% cow’s milk are offered to children at meal time.
Consideration is a part of the menu planning. At the Rollins Child Development Center, we value diversity and support an environment rich in culture and tradition. Offering foods from far away countries with various consistencies and tastes are known to encourage children to “try” new things. Teachers actively participate in family style dining and try new foods along with the children in the classroom. This family style approach to dining encourages the most discriminating food critic to explore tastes and textures from other countries.
Fresh fruit and vegetables, along with whole grains and minimally processed foods round out a nutrient rich dining program at the Rollins Child Development Center.
