Research has concluded that during critical developmental periods long, thin fibers grow inside the brain creating pathways that carry electrical impulses from brain cell to brain cell. This network grows daily in the young brain. According to research this growth forms the neurological foundation for a child to build a lifetime of skills. At the Rollins Child Development Center we support this sound research and dedicate ourselves to preparing each preschool child for academic excellence.
Our faith based program will empower each child with opportunity to become confident, successful, and caring while establishing a strong foundation of solid faith-filled experiences. Character building opportunities that include prayer, Christian songs, and Bible stories will be part of each child’s day.
The “HighScope Curriculum” is known to stimulate brain development and mental power. We understand that children learn differently. The trained teachers offer opportunities for most learning styles and varying abilities and interests to the children in our program. Children have the opportunity to learn and expand their knowledge through supported focus and key experiences that can build skill in language, phonics, math, social studies, science, technology, beginning hand writing and beginning reading. Physical activity, foreign language and visual/creative arts compliment the program. Sense of self and personal responsibility while working in a group setting is known to be very important as a child begins to develop habits related to learning and school in general. The Rollins Child Development Center will strive to focus on lessons that can enrich, prepare and encourage learning at all levels.
Respect for self and others will be an important part of our philosophy at the Rollins Child Development Center. Decision making, critical thinking and conflict resolution opportunities will support children throughout the day. In addition, appropriate principles that provide challenges known to help children find new ways to become successful, caring individuals will be presented. These principles will also build confidence to support on-going learning and more complex social and intellectual skills. The teachers will strive to help prepare children for future success in school as well as later in life.
Assessments and parent conferences will be offered at known critical times throughout the school year in order to present ongoing documentation regarding the development of children. These conferences usually focus on each success along with areas that may need extra concentration. Partnering with parents will be an area of strong focus at the Rollins Child Development Center. A strong parent partnership has been known to encourage teacher-parent interaction while offering support and encouragement to preschool age children.
